Dundee

Dundee is an industrial town of eastern Scotland. Dundee is situated on the north shore of the Firth of Tay, with good port facilities and road and rail communications over the Tay Bridges. It is the chief linen, hemp and jute manufacturing town of Great Britain; coarse cloths, sacking, carpets and linoleum are produced. Fruit-growing in the Carse of Gowrie nearby has led to a jam-making industry, which now includes the production of marmalade from imported oranges. Thus sugar is among the many imported raw materials handled in the docks. Engineering works, machine works for the jute industry, shipyards, sawmills and paper-mills are included among the town's varied activities.
